More than 10 million visitors from around the world have sought out this unique museum to gain better understanding of the West: a region and a history that permeates our national culture.

- The American Cowboy Gallery interprets of cowboy history and culture from Spanish colonial times to the 20th century.

All guided tours are developed according to the Oklahoma Curriculum Guide and offer students and adults an opportunity to explore the various images and artifacts that are unique to the American West. Hands-on activities are incorporated in our educational programs for elementary school children. Middle school, high school, and adult groups enjoy a guided tour of the museum.
The Museum has traveling trunks available for learning opportunities focusing on the way of life of a cowboy, or a Plains Indian. Teachers can tailor their program to accommodate any grade level. Items included in the trunks include artifacts demonstrating types of tools utilized, the manner of clothing worn, images of artwork from the Museum as well as story books to share with students. A notebook is also included, to provide teachers with additional teaching material.
Learning takes place in museums where challenging programming is integrated with exhibitions, technology and research to encourage the natural curiosity within all people.
Academy of Western Art Workshop is a rare opportunity for hands-on study with one of America's foremost Western artists at a premier art and history museum. These two-day to week-long workshops are offered several times a year featuring oils, watercolors, acrylics and clay sculpture.
