Located in the City of Chico, the Hype Dance Studio is situated perfectly for dancers to come from all over the area and benefit from the “Hype Experience”.
Founded and owned by dancer/choreographer Sarah Blakley, Hype's philosophy represents a positive and exciting learning environment where dancers can have fun, be creative and experience the incredible art of dance. Hype Dance Studio encourages dancers to take the disciplines of dance into their everyday lives, helping to build self-confidence, good self-esteem and a passion for living.
Keeping in alignment with the artistic culture in the Chico community, Hype Dance Studio will produce special performances at various events throughout the year. Reaching out to the community and sharing the creative talents of the Hype Dancers is a priority for the studio.
A special feature of the center is our in-house music recording and mixing studio, offering a fresh and unique dimension for productions and performances. The ability to create custom music enhances the dancer's potential to be even more expressive and imaginative.
The exciting opportunities dancers will experience at Hype are endless. Continuing to grow with the industry, Hype Dance Studio will ensure that each of its dancers dive into and enjoy the exciting world of dance.
Hype Dance Studio offers a variety of dance instruction for all ages and all levels of ability. All dancers are need to wear the required attire for participation in class. This includes the appropriate dance wear and footwear. It is important that students and parents follow the dress codes so that the instructor may best see their movements and the student properly learn.
- Jazz - form-fitting dance clothing - jazz pants or capris, tights, leotards, tanks OK. Hair must be pulled back. Jazz shoes are required.
- Hip Hop - Stretchy, comfortable dance or “work-out” clothing. Pants, shorts, tanks, T-shirts, and hats ok. No “school clothes”, jeans, jean shorts, or restrictive clothing. Flexible sneakers required.
- Ballet - Pink ballet tights, black leotard, hair pulled back off neck and face. Ballet shoes required. Ballet warm-ups ok. No t-shirts or tanks allowed.
- Tap - Comfortable, stretchy dance clothing required. No excessively long pants, as they interfere w/ the tap shoes. Tap shoes required.
- Divas & Dudes Combo - attire applies to descriptions above.
- Dolls/Angels Combo - any colored leotard and tights. Ballet skirts / tutus ok. Hair pulled back off face. Dancers must have tap and ballet shoes.
- Princess Ballet - any colored leotard and tights. Ballet skirts / tutus ok. Hair pulled back off face. Dancers must have ballet shoes.
- Creative Movement (2½-3), Music Magic (18 mo-2½), & Mommy & Me (2-3) – comfortable clothes and shoes for movement.
