Michael V. Elam, M.D. is a renowned cosmetic surgeon who has reshaped the faces and bodies of thousand of satisfied patients. Dr. Elam began his state of the art operating facility in Newport Beach, California in 1986.
Dr. Elam graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in 1974 and completed his surgical training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Elam was one of the first physicians in the United States to perform Liposuction surgery and he co-authored one of the first medical textbooks written to educate physicians on the technique. Dr. Elam has trained hundreds of physicians how to perform Liposuction Surgery and he is the past president of the American Society of Liposuction Surgery. In the 80’s Dr. Elam helped transform Phyllis Diller’s face and the two worked together on the “Home Shopping Network” along with many of his other celebrity clients.

Pre-OpApproximately two weeks prior to your scheduled surgery Dr. Elam and the pre-operative consultant spend approximately an hour reviewing the procedures and making sure that all of your questions are answered (for patients out of state and country this process will be done prior to your surgical date.) At this time each patient is given the pre and post-operative protocol designed by Dr. Elam to achieve optimum healing and a quick and comfortable recovery. All patients will undergo appropriate laboratory testing, which Dr. Elam and Dr. Schwab your anesthesiologist review. Prescriptions, surgical soap, vitamins etc will be given to the patient at this time. This appointment is to set your mind at ease so that you may relax knowing you will be prepared and well taken care of for your upcoming surgery.
SurgeryThe surgery is performed in Dr. Elam’s private accredited facility. An accredited facility ensures its commitment to the highest quality care and compliance with the standards for ambulatory health care. You will be taken care of by our registered nurse and our operating room technician who has worked with Dr. Elam exclusively for the past 20 years. John Schwab, M.D. your anesthesiologist will make sure you are comfortable and safe at all times. Post-OpPost-operative care is adhered to for the first two weeks and after that you will have intermittent appointments depending on your needs. You will be seen frequently by Dr. Elam and he is available by cell phone anytime to answer any questions you may have regarding your surgery or recovery.
