Winemaking process
Great winemaking starts in the vineyards. First, and foremost, the location of each grape varietal must be carefully selected and cultivated to optimize the flavor potential within its particular mesoclimate. Our wines are true expressions of their sub-appellations. Lake Sonoma Winery Zinfandel comes from grapes grown in Dry Creek Valley, an appellation known for producing intensely flavored fruit. The warm bench land area of Dry Creek Valley sits above the valley floor and gets warmer during the day. This warmer weather is particularly good for growing Zinfandel because it allows the grapes to develop full ripe flavors. The grapes are picked at the peak of ripeness, letting the jammy flavors of the wine come through.
Our mission is to produce premium, Sonoma County sub-appellation and vineyard specific wines: Zinfandels and Fume Blanc from Dry Creek Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley and Chardonnay from Russian River Valley. Our objective is to create the ultimate expression of these sub-appellations: wines possessing excellent structure, desirable fruit flavors, and intriguing complexity.
Our wines
- 2007 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc - Pronounced varietal characteristics of lemongrass, lime and pepper. The soft, round mid palate balances and finely tunes the ratio between fruit and acid resulting in a refreshing, zesty finish.
- 2007 Russian River Valley Chardonnay - Aromas of honeysuckle, butterscotch and vanilla; ripe apple flavor with the subtle spice of cinnamon. An elegant mid-palate and a creamy texture with balanced acid and soft tannins.
- 2005 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - Flavors of raspberry, blackberry and cassis with aromas of brown sugar and black pepper compliment a firm but balanced oak profile.
- 2005 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel - Ripe fruit flavors of plum, blackberry and cherry mingle with an elegant mid palate of creamy vanilla. The lightly toasted oak profile, along with a medley of spices, lengthen the finish and add complexity.
- 2005 Saini Farms Dry Creek Valley Old Vine Zinfandel - Aromatic oak nuances balanced with forward flavors of cherry and plum mingle with mellow tannins for a soft texture and finish.
